I have an eye for wild print. When I walk through a store, the simple articles of clothing never grab my attention. When I see something bright, or with an interesting texture, sometimes I can’t stop thinking about it until I finally give in and buy it. I’ve tried to consciously make myself buy neutrals, but it’s hard, and frankly, I get bored. I can get behind a comfy, plain t-shirt, but a closet full of neutral clothing just doesn’t fit me.
My first two years of college, I lived with a friend who really liked neutrals, and it was always fun to see the drastic differences in the content that filled up our closets. Side to side, one closet was all in the same color palette while my side looked a little bit more like the pattern of a deflated hot air balloon (If you’re reading this, Alyssa, I love you so much!) I used to think loud prints were brave, but now it feels silly to imagine myself never wearing crazy prints.
Bold prints also seem to make winter seasons a little bit more bearable. It gets dark so early, and it’s nice to spend the day with some brighter colors around. It was absolutely fitting that, while searching for a spot to shoot this jacket, my sister and I came upon a little flower shop in Manti, Utah. I just can’t get enough flowers, and that might even be what drew me to the print of this crazy jacket.
Because this jacket is really wild, I decided that a pair of light wash jeans and a green V neck shirt would be nice and simple to balance out a little bit of my crazy. I am always a fan of stretchy denim. I love jeans that allow me to move around in them. This is my favorite pair of comfy pants, and I would also consider them my least fabulous pair. They are the jeans I would throw on to go kneel in the dirt outside, and that might be part of their charm.
You can shop similar jackets here, here, and here! I love wearing bright things, but I also love to encourage my readers to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things. If you end up trying one of these jackets, don’t be afraid to send in a picture of the outfit you style! I would LOVE to see it!
