FIVE THINGS THAT MAKE MY HUSBAND THE PERFECT GUY FOR ME

Okay, I just have to say, are you JOKING!? This is my husband Wyatt. He had less than ten minutes to get ready for me to take these pictures, and this is how they turned out! That is just what his face looks like! It makes my heart feel like a big pink blooming hydrangea.

I had just seen a Chris Stapleton album cover and felt inspired to take some pictures of Wyatt in his “nice” cowboy hat (It’s my favorite one). He always has such a good attitude about all of my creative whims. The sky was golden, and even the wildfire smoke couldn’t get rid of the evening glow just as the sun was going down.

HERE ARE FIVE THINGS THAT MAKE MY HUSBAND THE PERFECT GUY FOR ME

1. HE IS OPEN MINDED TO NEW IDEAS AND PERSPECTIVES.

Wyatt is always learning new things. He is always reading and asking hard questions. I’m always impressed by his willingness to learning about other people’s experiences. I’ve noticed that the decisions he makes and the opinions he forms revolve around looking at people and situations with the greatest compassion. That is so rare and special, and I learn so much from him.

2. I’M CONVINCED THAT HE IS THE MOST PATIENT MAN IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

I cannot express in writing how annoying I am. I think it’s something that people have to experience in person to really understand. Honestly, it makes me laugh even thinking about it. I get satisfaction from purposely annoying my loved ones. I don’t even know why! I have literally been this way my entire life, and he is so patient all the time. A friend of mine told me recently, “He doesn’t seem to mind. He just looks at you when you talk, like you’re the cutest thing he’s ever seen.” How lucky am I?!

3. HE IS A MAJOR SWEETHEART.

Wyatt can be rough and tough, and work really hard, but he can also be gentle and sweet. I’m always so grateful that he appreciates beautiful things. I could never be with someone who needed things to be masculine enough for them to be comfortable. I think I could decide to have everything in my house be floral, and Wyatt wouldn’t complain. Our bedsheets have flowers on them, and one day I was asking him if he felt like our things were too feminine. He said “no,” and complimented the “cute little bees” that are also on the sheets. Sometimes, I think he just wants me to be happy and knows that flowers make me happy. Other days, I realize that he is just as invested in restoring and remodeling old furniture as I am. He even talked me into buying a THIRD dining table because of its “cute” Scandinavian details. He really sees the value of beautiful things. Even the ones that are in need of repair or some paint.

We have been together for 2 years and Wyatt has never once yelled at me or even raised his voice at me. He always approaches me in the kindest, most supportive way. I want to be more like him in that way.

4. HE ALWAYS REMINDS ME THAT HE LOVES ME.

When Wyatt and I were dating, he set a daily reminder on my phone saying, “Remember that Wyatt loves you!” It is such a small gesture, but it was really meaningful to me. I was so surprised and happy when I first got the reminder, and I still remember that feeling. It still pops up on my phone at 11:00 AM every day, and I smile every day. He does so many things for me, just to make me happy. He puts lotion on my feet before bed, brings me surprises (usually plants lol), sometimes packs me a lunch or a snack for work, and, one of my very favorites, gives me big strong hugs and then says to me “can you feel my love?” The best part is that I really can.

5. HE IS THE MOST THOUGHTFUL, HELPFUL PERSON I’VE EVER MET.

Wyatt helps me with anything and everything. He has been that way since the first time I met him. He helps with even the tiniest, most unimportant things. Like, one night, I woke up around 4:00 AM after dreaming about a painting I wanted to make. Usually I have a pen on my side table, and I couldn’t find it. He got out of bed so fast and found me a pen and a piece of paper so that I wouldn’t forget my creative idea.

I should start keeping a running tally of how many garbage cans I’ve seen Wyatt pull in for little old ladies. He has pulled the truck over to the side of the road multiple times to help complete strangers. One Saturday, he went with a group of people to help a deaf woman in Laramie, WY move into an old, kind of rundown house. Everybody that volunteered was taking shifts that were about 2-3 hours long. Wyatt ended up staying there and working for six or seven hours to fix the wiring in her house so that all of her outlets worked and her house was clean. He never complained or told anybody that he did that. Of course, he never does, but it never ceases to amaze me that he can be so generous with his time and talents.

He really is the perfect guy for me. I still can’t believe that he is a real person. It’s just too good to be true and somehow it keeps being true. I always make jokes to him about how his old girlfriends must be so disappointed and regretful that he got away, but honestly, I’m so glad that we were able to meet at the right time and under the right circumstances for things to work out so well for us. He is everything I could have imagined my dream guy to be. You can read the story of how we met here.

I hope you enjoyed this post because it was so fun for me to write and brag about my sweet husband.

xx, Haley
