FAUX FUR FOREVER

I can’t remember when I started obsessing over faux fur coats. I pinned them on Pinterest for months before could talk myself into getting one. Now, I could wear my faux fur coat forever. Faux fur coat forever, say that ten times fast. As usual, I sent my best friends some pictures before deciding on this silvery gray color.

I could see myself spinning around in this coat for many glamorous evenings to come, and I knew I just had to have it. I once read an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote from the book Gatsby Girls, and when I was daydreaming about this coat, it came to mind. It read, “Take off that darn fur coat!…Or maybe you’d like to have us open all the windows.” It felt so relatable as I tried on my gray faux fur coat because some people say that they can’t sacrifice comfort for fashion, but I would open the windows in summer before I would take off this coat.

I love the endless opportunities that fashion has to offer. It is so exciting to try new things. I am lucky because the people in my life are always excited for me to experiment and attempt things that are out of the ordinary. There is power in leaving behind doubts and trying things that you could absolutely fall in love with. The more you let yourself explore, the more you fall in love with things you didn’t even know you could. So maybe you start this week, and you do one little tiny thing that you have always wanted to do, but never committed to. Take a leap, or even just a small step. Who knows? It could end up making you really happy, and even if it doesn’t, you are still a little bit braver than you were before.

I found this velvet tank at Walmart when I was walking through the aisles (probably to the chocolate chip section). It was supposed to be some kind of lingerie, but when I saw it, I had other plans. It was only five dollars, and I obviously have a huge crush on velvet, so I snatched it up. I decided to go two sizes up because I’m not big on crop tops. As soon as my coat arrived, I knew that this tank could be its wardrobe soulmate.

I love texture! You can see that in my hair and all the velvet I own. It all comes together with the faux fur. Fur is such an easy go to for texture, whether it is in your wardrobe, home décor, etc. because it doesn’t really look like anything else. It has a very unique texture, and it’s fun to play with because fur can come in so many different lengths and colors.

I also love the look of multiple rings. They are unique to the eye, but somehow blend together seamlessly. They add a little extra sparkle to an outfit, while incorporating the bohemian style that I am so often drawn to. I am always surprised at the process in which various outfits come together.
