Today I have the perfect DIY for Valentines Day! I absolutely love a good body scrub. A hot bath and a floral body scrub are practically the cure for stress. Okay, so maybe they can’t solve all of our problems, but they can’t hurt! I love this scrub because the sugar and oil complement each other so perfectly as one exfoliates while the other moisturizes.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Coconut oil
Granulated sugar
Rose Petals
This is such a simple recipe! Keep in mind while following this that you can add anything you’d like, substitute your favorite essential oils, add other flowers. It is totally up to you. I don’t measure anything when making this scrub. I just mix enough oil to soften the sugar without losing the grainy texture. My favorite part is obviously the rose petals, so I always add too many. I just can’t help myself!
I always start with a generous amount of sugar and put the rose petals on top. If you’re planning to make a lot of scrub at once, you may want to make a few separate batches. Putting large amounts in the blender at once makes it difficult to blend, and you may find yourself with big rose petal pieces in your scrub. If you are worried that your blender won’t mix the rose petals well, you can chop them before putting them in the blender.
Next, I warm up the coconut oil because it is easier to mix into the sugar when it is in a liquid state. Sometimes if the blender is having trouble mixing, I will add just a little splash of water, and pull some of the dry sugar up to the top with a spoon.
Once it is all blended, you can add more sugar or oil depending on how rough you want your scrub to be. I always like a little more sugar because the rough sugar takes off dead skin. You will be surprised how much softer your skin will feel following the exfoliation and moisturizing (especially in the winter season!).
After you find your preferred texture, you are all finished! I hope you take a nice bubble bath and enjoy it! Let me know what you added to make it your own! I might give your recipe a try!
