This weekend, I was walking through ROSS looking for a duvet cover. Clearly, I should have hurried faster to get out of the store, but I ended up in the dress section and this pattern caught my eye. I reached over and pulled the fabric out from between the other hanging dresses and realized it was a jumpsuit! I LOVE a good jumpsuit because they have so much character. Then, I noticed that it was in the size extra-large! When I went to find my size, there were none to be found. I was so sad!
I kept looking around and feeling like a shopaholic and when I was walking to a different section, I saw it. The same pattern tucked in the back of a rack. I pulled it out from the pant leg and slowly checked the size tag afraid that it was going to be another XL. It was a medium, and it came home with me! It’s so funny that a lot of my favorite pieces pop up when I’m not looking for anything related to them.
I usually hate crepe woven fabric because it looks like something I would wear when I was a little girl, but I think I might consider wearing a garbage bag if it had this print on it. Okay, so maybe not, but I love the crepe woven fabric when it is paired with these flowy pant legs and gorgeous color palette.
When I was putting these earrings in, it occurred to me that they don’t exactly match. For some reason I loved them together anyway and decided that I should wear them. I realize that wearing strange things can invite criticism. It’s always so peculiar to me that people feel like their opinion is desired by everybody around them, but I have probably given unwanted advice myself.
When I was thinking about this, I realized that I want to be better about inviting curiosity and exploration. I want people to be authentic and wear the things that make them feel a sense of happiness and genuineness. I think in order to be able to do that, I have to start by changing myself and the way I think about other styles that do not really fit into my own idea of beauty. If an item of clothing that I don’t think looks good fills somebody with happiness, who am I to say that they shouldn’t wear them. I hope that after reading this, you will think about how you can invite authenticity and openness into your life as well.
SHOP:
Unfortunately, because I bought an overstocked item from a tiny ROSS store in Logan, Utah, I can’t find a link for you to shop this jumpsuit! I have googled everything I can think of, and I am so sad about that because I want everybody to have one! Luckily, I have found two very similar items in other beautiful prints that you can shop here and here! I hope you love them as much as I love this one!
